Thank you for this beautiful story. Suffering is not all it's cracked up to be but it does make one appreciate the absence of suffering. I remember being in the hospital in extreme pain with a similar problem an abdominal blockage and infection. I kept noticing my feet. My husband had given me a his socks to wear in the emergency room as it was freezing cold. I wiggled my toes and felt how warm and cozy they were And they did not hurt. and wasn't he sweet to take off his socks and put them on me. I tried to focus on my cozy feet though my gut hurt like crazy. It was cool and it worked to a degree.
