Spring Coming in Maine

Spring coming in Maine

Is not the bold of bright tulips

Or even the pale of daffodil

But the clear brilliance

of imagination fueled by

Intense light

Sun screaming bright

Rising straight overhead

Shows up through dense layered clouds

Through snow and mud-covered earth

Clear blue swath of sky

Maybe covered over in an instant

Yet, my eyes remember and latch on to

The idea of spring
