I was a kid during the fifties and remember going to the discount store right before school began. My sister and I could each get 2 dresses and I remember plaid being the main choice. Did we alternate those two all week? Maybe get a new one at Christmas to add to the mix? Or a bag of hand-me-downs from my grandmother’s church. Wish I remembered more. Good story, thanks.
